Common Name: Bangalow Palm
Description: Archontophoenix cunninghamiana is a fast-growing, tall native palm suited to tropical, subtropical and cool-climate gardens when planted in a sheltered position. More cold-tolerant than the Alexandra Palm, it withstands temperatures down to –4 °C. It features a slender grey trunk, long divided fronds and seasonal mauve flowers followed by bright red fruits. Growing 15–20 m tall, it creates a striking tropical effect as a feature plant or when mass-planted and pairs well with bold foliage plants. Young specimens can be kept indoors in bright light for short periods.
