Common Name: Narrow-leafed Peppermint Gum or Forth River Peppermint
Description: This Australian native is a medium to large tree which can grow to 15m or occasionally 30m to 40m high in mountain areas. It has a dense, spreading canopy with branches developing a pendulous habit from the crown as it gets older. Bark is grey-brown, finely textured and fibrous. The leaves are dark green and produce a peppermint fragrance when crushed. Blooms are white-cream and prolific from October to January. Prefers deep loamy soils, clay-loam soils and alluvial soils near rivers. Will not tolerate poor drainage.
