Common Name: Cabbage Tree Palm

Description: The cabbage tree palm is a large growing native with green glossy leaves that has little spikes growing down the fronds. This Australian palm grows along the east coast from northern Queensland to Southern Victoria. It can grow up to 30m in height and with a 30cm trunk in diameter. The cabbage tree palm thrives in a part shade position but still can grow in full sun. It prefers moist, organically-rich soils that are well drained but can tolerate poor soils. It is also salt, frost and wind tolerant, meaning it can handle coastal conditions.
