Common Name: Boston Ivy

Description: Boston ivy is a vigorous, deciduous, woody vine that will grow on walls and fences unsupported. It clings to surfaces (e.g., brick, stone or wood walls) by adhesive sucker disks located at the tendril ends. The tri-lobed leaves are purple when immature, expand to a bright green and turn to shades of red in autumn before they fall. Although native to China and Japan, this ivy has been widely planted around the world.
